Cynical Peak Software on Tuesday announced the release of Rivet 2.1, a new version of their software that lets Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners stream media from a Macintosh. It costs US$19, and the upgrade is free for registered users.

Rivet is software you install on your Mac. With Rivet, you can stream (unprotected) music, photos and video to your video game console, to watch, view and listen on your home entertainment center.

The 2.1 release improves performance and enhances stability. It also includes Italian and Spanish language localizations and improves the French localization.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5 or later, iTunes, a networked Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and 2.7MB hard disk space.
